Sharing Ancient Wisdom in Verse

Places Available

Bhajans with Swami Jasraj Puri.

On Sunday 5 August from 3.00pm to 4.00pm, Centenary Yoga has the honour of bringing a special guest lecturer, Swami Jasraj Puri, to lead a discussion of Bhajans.

Bhajan means “sharing”. It is a song that reveals spiritual knowledge. Before writing was developed, ancient yogis passed on their wisdom from one generation to the next with the use of bhajans. This tradition has continued across thousands of years and is maintained in modern times through the work of people such as Swami Jasraj Puri.

Swami Jasraj Puri is a senior yoga teacher who has been teaching Yoga since 1995. He spent 20 years living in an Ashram in India, studying and teaching yoga and yoga philosophy. Swami Jasraj Puri has managed the Yoga in Daily Life ashram in Rajasthan which includes a school for 1500 pupils, a hospital, an animal shelter and a research centre. In 2010 he became the first western Swami to be awarded the title of Mahamandaleshwar (scholarly saint) of the Mahanirvani Akhara, the highest title of the Haridwar Kumbh Mela order of monks. Swami Jasraj Puri is currently undertaking research in Sanskrit at the University of Queensland and teaching yoga at Yoga in Daily Life’s Brisbane studio in Newstead.
